Bella Figura moves me both as an audience member and as a photographer. The duet between Rie Ichikawa and Kathleen Breen Combes was one of the most moving moments I have seen in my 34 years as a dance photographer. Rarely, while photographing a dress rehearsal does my mind wander from the scene I see in my viewfinder. While shooting this duet, I knew what I was watching was a work of art, and for a few seconds I pulled my face away from the camera to watch these two women perform.  I wished I could have watched for a longer time but I knew it was a moment I needed to capture on film.
